Both these bands (albeit Oli Brown being a solo artist) play Blues-rock and both of them really do it well. Two young groups out there taking there own stab at the Blues and I can’t get enough of them.
Oli Brown’s album, Open Road, is full of great songs. From the rocking opener, Psycho to the fantastically fun cover version of Black Betty (I can never get enough of this song, in all its various covers), this is one solid debut album.
Back Door Slam’s debut, Roll Away, is Blues Rock of a different kind. Hard rocking in places, mellow emotional Blues in others. It really is a fantastic ride. The highlight for me is the haunting song Stay, which is just amazing.
