It has been a fantastic tournament, even without England to support. I’ve found myself cheering on all the underdogs, but throughout I’ve had my theoretical money on Spain and I’m glad to see them through to the final.
I’ve never been a fan of Germany (as is English tradition), the majority of their players come across as assholes to the maximum (Lehmann/Ballack) so if Spain could crush them, akin to England’s decimation of them back in 2001 (5-1 to England, all goals coming from my beloved Liverpool (Gerrard/Heskey/Owen 3)) I would be most happy, with Torres getting a hat trick
Still, even if Germany take the honours, it really has been a fantastic spectacle. Turkey and Russia beating the odds. Some classy players coming to the fore and some reiterating their value.
Overally I was impressed a lot by Holland and Turkey. Holland played some wonderful football. Turkey had a lot of heart and played like their lives depended on it. I hope they go back home to a rapturous reception.
So, Sunday, 11:30am (West Coast US) I will be glued to my sofa, a Sobe Energy drink on my table and my guitar on my lap, cheering Spain on against the evil incarnate Germans!

Last night I rented Charlie Bartlett on DVD. I had seen the previews at the time of its theatrical release and thought it looked good. It just fell in one of the months I didn’t go to the cinema. So, I was looking forward to this one.
The story follows the titular character through the tale of moving from a private school, out of which he is expelled for forging driver’s licenses for other classmates. He is moved to a public school, where stereotypes are abundant and Charlie is oblivious. From here we’re taken through Charlie’s attempts at fitting in and fixing everybody’s lives. (more…)

Too Many Curses
The wizard Margle the Horrendous takes special pride in never killing his enemies. Instead, he transforms them into various accursed forms and locks them away in his castle. His halls are filled with his collection of fallen heroes and defeated villains, along with a few ordinary folk who were just unfortunate enough to draw Margle ’s attention.
It’s Nessy’s duty to tend this castle. It’s a lot of work, but she manages, taking pride in housekeeping talents that keep the castle from collapsing into chaos. But when Margle suddenly dies, everything begins to unravel. Nessy finds herself surrounded by monsters, curses, a door that should never be opened, and one very deadly dark wizardess. (more…)

A Beginning
“I was looking at your MySpace page today” said John.
“Oh yeah?” said Floyd, who was seated in his favorite chair, in his bedroom. John was sitting on the end of Floyd’s bed.
“Yeah,” said John, “why aren’t I one of your Top Friends?”
“You aren’t?”
“No, I’m not and you damn well know it!” shouted John, getting stupidly angry.
“OK, I just don’t see you as one of my Top 8 Friends” said Floyd, hiding his smirk behind a magazine.
“Change the amount of friends then!”
“Nah, that’ll mess up my page” (more…)
